A serious intellectual-property portfolio wearing boots.
Independent Research, Co. maintains a preliminary seven-year discounted-cash-flow valuation of approximately $1.8 million for its Schedule A intellectual-property portfolio, after an illiquidity and commercialization offset. That portfolio includes manuscripts, published research, datasets, diagrams, clinical tools, prototype logic, training materials, and original frameworks related to PV, WV, ALC, Person 4, and behavioral integrity. The figure is unaudited, for internal use, and not a solicitation.
In plain English: this is not a loose pile of notes. This is a substantial portfolio of original research, applied models, clinical-tool concepts, datasets, diagrams, and manuscripts developed through sustained independent inquiry.
Why Independent Research, Co.
Built outside the silo. Anchored in published research.
Independent Research, Co. operates outside conventional institutional silos. That independence is not a rejection of scholarship; it is a structural advantage for this kind of work. The company’s research program crosses clinical risk formulation, worldview coherence, physiological load, virtue development, behavioral integrity, relational harm, and human transformation — domains that are often separated across academic departments, clinical specialties, and publishing categories.
Working independently allows the company to follow system-level patterns wherever the evidence leads, convert published research into applied tools, and build practical frameworks without waiting for institutional alignment, grant cycles, or disciplinary permission.
The result is research that is empirically grounded, structurally ambitious, and directed toward usable models for clinicians, publishers, treatment programs, and serious collaborators.

Founder
Travis Hawkins
Travis Hawkins is the founder of Independent Research, Co., an Alabama-based independent research enterprise focused on clinical risk formulation, systems analysis, virtue development, and the detection of hidden instability before it erupts into visible harm.
His work is unusual for the simple reason that it refuses to stay in one academic lane. He brings accounting discipline, financial-modeling instincts, statistical stubbornness, theological seriousness, clinical curiosity, and a workingman's refusal to worship prestige into one research program. The result is a body of work that is empirical, uncomfortable, structurally ambitious, and very hard to dismiss once the pieces are seen together.
Hawkins has authored multiple double-blind peer-reviewed research articles and is developing an integrated book, clinician-facing tools, and a software workflow intended to help professionals distinguish real transformation from mere compliance, impression management, or temporary suppression.
In 2026, Hawkins was recognized as a Marquis Who’s Who Honored Listee, included here as an external credibility marker rather than as a substitute for the work itself.
What we’re working on
Independent Research, Co. is currently focused on converting a large research corpus into publishable, testable, clinician-usable, and commercially viable products.
Li and Fincham LPA Analysis
We are monitoring and developing a possible collaboration or response around a latent profile analysis work on prosocial motivations and well-being. The goal is to extend the work by asking whether hidden heterogeneity, humility-honesty structure, and prosocial orientation are better understood through behavioral proxies. All of Independent Research, Co.'s current corpus utilize strictly behavioral testing excluding self report. The combination may prove much better than either of the two methodologies functioned alone.
The Integrated Book: The Architecture of Instability
The book integrates the worldview-risk, anger-cascade, developmental-risk, PV, and Person 4 materials into one coherent account of human instability, false stability, and transformation. It is being prepared for publishers, agents, clinicians, and serious readers who are willing to follow a nonlinear argument all the way down.
Regime 4 / Person 4
Person 4 is the regime that looks stable from the outside while remaining structurally unstable inside. The current work is building evidence around preserved functioning, outwardly contained harm, chronic sub-detection instability, resilience as a bifurcation variable, and the difference between transformation and constraint-based suppression.
Clinical and applied tools
Early Detection Clinic Prototype
The current prototype demonstrates how the research can become a clinician-facing workflow for risk formulation, escalation windows, recurrence patterns, developmental status, and longitudinal change.
Open prototypeAuthenticity–Performance Differentiation
A practical framework for distinguishing real transformation from performative virtue, impression management, compliance, and temporary behavioral suppression. The applied markets include counseling, addiction recovery, anger intervention, faith-based counseling, leadership ethics, and court-adjacent programs.
